In 1963, Alexander Muss arrived in Miami Beach with his wife, two daughters and a son. He was a member of a respected family of Builders. Alex understood his craft, enjoyed its nature and rejected any materials but the best and any construction that was not up to his standards, fortunately.

Alexander Muss turned his eyes south to the sand and sun of Miami Beach an area at that time with no condominiums and very few apartments on the ocean. His construction took into account not only excessive heat, humidity, salt air, sudden squalls and hurricanes; but, also what the future would hold for this then sleepy, tropical area with its soft ocean breezes; year round golf; sailing and the ultimate necessity – lots of land just waiting for people like Alexander Muss to arrive.
Today, six buildings stand in his honor: The West Bldg. (5600 Collins Avenue); The Tower House (5500 Collins Avenue – Miami Beach’s first condominium); Seacoast North (The Alexander Hotel & Condominiums – 5225 Collins Avenue); Seacoast East (5151 Collins Avenue); Seacoast South (5101 Collins Avenue) and Seacoast 5700 (5700 Collins Avenue – Our Home).

Alex was large, engaging, slightly rough around the edges and a fine businessman and a Teddy Bear to his friends. His belief that each building should last many years resulted in 12” concrete block construction giving grey hair to any plumber needing to access between and into walls for repair and bearing walls between apartments. They also keep conversations inside the apartments and make it difficult to carry conversations from room to room.
Primarily, he built with and for the best materials and tenants alike. Most buildings built in the last 30 years in South Florida are put together w/spit while building codes on Miami Beach have become stricter each year. Not one builder has or will give you the quality of the above named buildings.
Today we are approaching the 40-Year birthday of our building, Seacoast 5700. The structure that they created for us is a celebration we should all toast to Alex Muss and the knowledge that with the proper TLC (Tender Loving Care) she will outlive the 21st Century.

Developer: Christa Development Corp and Bluerock Real Estate

It's rare that we hear of new 5-star oceanfront condos appearing in South Beach. Well, Christa Development Corporation and New York's Bluerock investment firm are bankrolling and building this stunning new project.

The Caribbean Hotel was a landmark structure built in 1941. This 7-story art deco treasure will be completely stripped and rebuilt from the inside out. Another building, 18-stories in height will be built attached to the original structure, thereby giving us two towers of ultra-luxury residences to choose from.

All units will have stunning floor-to-ceiling windows. In fact, both towers will basically be all-glass towers. And the views are just amazing. Practically every room in every apartment will see the ocean. The west-facing views will be of Miami Beach's famed Intercoastal.

Typical ceiling heights will range from 9-feet to 10-feet (penthouses). These are first-class apartments with Subzero and Miele appliances, marble and granite bathrooms and an amazing array of high-end designer finishes.

The project is scheduled to start construction in early 2006, with completion slated for Fall 2007.

Don't let this opportunity pass you! If you're looking for an ultra-luxury apartment and you missed out on some of Caribbean's predecessors, now is your chance to get in early!

37th Street and Collins Avenue - The Neighborhood

This part of South Beach is known as the Historic District. Over the past few years, we've seen an incredible amount of restoration and re-introduction of these classic Miami Beach structures. Also appearing soon in this same neighborhood: WCI's MOSAIC CONDO, the RITZ CARLTON RESIDENCES and THE SAXONY. Marriott recently refurbished and re-introduced the Courtyard tower, and it's simply an amazing example of how some of these buildings have eternal life as luxury destinations.
