Country Club Estates




Country Club Estates is a quiet, private enclave of 100 homes located on Bob Hope Drive and Country Club Drive in Rancho Mirage. It is adjacent to the homeowner communities of Sunrise Country Club and Park Mirage. Construction took place in 1978 and 1979. It is a planned unit development on fee simple land. The developer was Ross Cortese of Leisure World fame. 
The architecture at Country Club Estates is Mediterranean and California inspired, featuring courtyards, wrought iron fences and clay tile roofs. The homes have two or three bedrooms, three bathrooms and a den. There were originally three basic models from 2,450 to 3,160 square feet. All homes are freestanding in individually walled private grounds This allows room for individual pools and house additions. Individual lot size is at least 10,000 square feet. Each home has dual heat and air and hot water systems. Homes in Country Club Estates have been sold this year at prices ranging from $250,000 to $327,000.

The community is walled and gated with access from both Bob Hope and Country Club Drives. It is in a sheltered, non-windy location. Community facilities include a swim and tennis club. There are four recessed and screened tennis courts, all of which are night lighted. The developer provided a single large community pool with spa, in anticipation that most homeowners would install their own, which is in fact the case. About sixty percent of the homes have their own pools. An important design feature was to provide for the collection of trash from behind the gates of the homes. This prevents the unsightly disposition of trash at curbside.


The absence of golf in the development is considered an asset because it protects the community’s privacy. However, with golf cart access to nearby courses at Sunrise Country Club and The Springs, Country Club Estates homeowners have the best of both worlds. Aside from its gates and walls, security at Country Club Estates benefits from the fact that the City of Rancho Mirage has the lowest crime rate in the Coachella Valley. The community’s mailboxes are attractively designed with fluorescent tubes behind ivory colored opaque plastic panels to provide street and security lighting.

A major draw for prospective homeowners is the convenient central location of the community. It is close to Eisenhower Medical Center, Rancho Mirage Post Office, Lucky’s and the Rancho Las Palmas/Marriott hotel and shopping complex.

Deep Well Ranch




Deep Well Ranch (DWR) has a long and colorful history as an integral part of Palm Springs, California. In 1926, scientist Henry Pearson purchased the current DWR property. He drilled his 1st well and was pleased to discover water close to the surface. Giving in to his curiosity, he drilled deeper, finding more "layers" of water, finally stopping at 630 feet.  As a result of this well, then the deepest in the Coachella Valley, the property became known as Deep Well Ranch.

Originally an orchard, and then a working ranch, Deep Well Ranch later became the Deep Well Guest Ranch, active through World War II. An October, 1942 guest ranch sales brochure states "Guests arriving during the day for their Palm Springs holiday at the guest ranch will be met at the Southern Pacific rail station by a stage coach.  Night train arrivals will be met by private car".  In addition, "at least one trip a day will be made into the Village (Palm Springs) from the Ranch for mail and for the convenience of guests".  This service was provided using a buckboard wagon and horse team.

Deep Well Ranch is only one of three remaining communities in Palm Springs that provides a 24hr a day / 7day a week manned guard gate. Each resident homeowner is provided with up to two parking decals to facilitate their entrance, but must contact the gate to authorize visitors, be they family, friends or service personnel. In addition, Deep Well Ranch offers an active Neighborhood Crime Watch group helping to ensure the security of "the Ranch". 


The community is a Planned Unit Development  (PUD) that consists of 111 units in an idyllic park-like setting of 24 lush, beautifully landscaped and maintained acres, just minutes from the Palm Springs village center.

Deep Well Ranch offers 31 detached condos (single family homes) on the outer perimeter of Primavera Dr (our main street), 8 two-story townhouse condos on 2 of our cul-de-sacs, and 72 single-story attached condos in small blocks of 3 or 4 units throughout the Ranch.
