Polo Club

The Polo Club Neighborhood includes approximately 350 homes, and is one of the most exclusive and   secluded neighborhoods in Denver. Located immediately south of the Cherry Creek Mall, the Polo Club Neighborhood sits on the site of the first Polo Club in Denver. Most people driving along University Boulevard pay no attention to the unassuming, wooden fence on the east side of University.  This fence separates the Polo Club Neighborhood from the rest of Denver.   But, inside the Polo Club Neighborhood the homes are very large and elegant including sprawling Villa-styled homes, making the Polo Club Neighborhood one of the most famous and affluent neighborhoods in Denver.

Polo Club Home
The first house to be built in the Polo Club Neighborhood was Lafayette Hughes' 36-room, Mediterranean-style mansion in March 1925.  After Hughes started construction on his new home, other wealthy citizens purchased lots to build homes of their own in the Polo ClubNeighborhood.

By December 1941 the Polo Club itself closed, and much of the property was sold. To continue an atmosphere of privacy, a Polo Club Home Owner's Association was started in 1946.  Development of the Polo Club Neighborhood was steady from the late 1950s through the 970s.

Since the late 1980s, all styles of homes are represented in the Polo Club Neighborhood.  Many of the homes South of Alameda are built on lots as large as 2 acres.  North of Alameda, homes are on smaller lots and are closer together.  The Polo Club Neighborhood's first condo complex is on the corner of Alameda and Steele.  The Polo Club Condominiums are 21-story's high and have spectacular views from Mount Evans to Pikes Peak.

With Cherry Creek Shopping area just blocks away, and only a 15 minute drive to downtown Denver, the Polo Club Neighborhood is one of the most sought after neighborhoods in Denver.
