by society hill towers Society Hill Towers is the premier condominium complex in the Philadelphia area.  Towers management considers the mission of caring for the residents, the infrastructure, and the property to be its primary responsibility. Over the years, Society Hill Towers has maintained the highest standards of service to its residents, the most efficient operating environment of any high-rise residential building, and an attractive property second to none in the area. Many of the residents have lived in the Towers for 20, 30 or even 40 years. It is a testament to both the dedicated management and employees that residents enjoy the fine quality of life that they experience here at the Towers. AMENITIES Bicycle Storage A locked bicycle storage room is located in the garage sub-basement. Any resident may request a bicycle storage space. Simply apply to the Security Manager and space will be assigned, if available.  If no spaces are available, you will be placed on a waiting list. If available, you will be assigned to a bike space in the  building where you live. If there is none available in your building, you may be assigned to a space in another building. Community Room The Society Hill Towers Community Room is in the Plaza of Shops at 261 St. James Place. It is available for residents' parties, meetings and other social events on a fee basis. The room rental is $150 per day for a room requiring no setup, and $300.00 per day for special setups such as parties, etc. A refundable security deposit of $50 is required to secure the reservation. Deposits will be returned if the room is left in a clean condition. De Luxe Storage Lockers In addition to the open storage areas, the Towers also offers deluxe walk-in rooms for storage. These rooms are located on the basement or sub-basement levels of each Tower, and are located in or next to the open storage areas.  Fitness Center The health and convenience of residents is a high priority. The Towers has a fully-equipped and easily accessible fitness center. Our administrative staff is available to advise and assist residents with the paper work related to reimbursement of costs from HMOs. Several years ago, we installed curb cutouts and railings throughout the entire property, and made a wheelchair available in each of our lobbies. A no-smoking policy in the common areas is in effect for employees and residents.  Hospitality Suite Council purchased one unit as a guest apartment available for rent by residents who are entertaining out-of-town guests. The luxurious furnishings and low cost make this amenity popular with residents. Residents of Society Hill Towers may reserve for their overnight guests a beautifully furnished studio apartment only $85 per night during the week and $95.00 on weekends in the winter months. From Memorial Day thru Labor Day the price per night is $95.00 every day. All weekend booking include a 2 night minimum stay. The unit sleeps four persons and includes a fully equipped kitchen. Residents make reservations through the Management Office. It is necessary for the host resident to sign a rental agreement. Laundry Room Society Hill Towers has recently installed new washers and dryers for each of the Towers. A Laundry Card is needed to operate the washers and dryers. A fee of $15.00 is charged for the issuance of a laundry card. Money can be added to these cards in each of the laundry rooms. There are 12 washers and 12 dryers located in the basement level of each building, directly in front of the elevators. An oversized washer is available exclusively in the West Tower which can be used for quilts, bedspreads, down parkas etc. The cost is $1.00 for the washer and $1.00 for the dryer. Storage Lockers Storage locker rooms are located in each towers sub-basement. As there is not a locker for each unit, when none are available you have the option of being placed on a waiting list. Resident owners will be given first priority on the waiting list. Swimming Pool The swimming pool is in a wooded area behind the South Tower, a bit of William Penn's green country town in a busy modern city. This well-maintained facility is open from mid-May until mid-September. Hours: Monday-Thursday: 10:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.; Friday: 10:30 a.m. till 10:00 p.m.; Saturday and holidays: 9:00 a.m. till 10:00 p.m. Cable TV Society Hill Towers has a bulk account with Comcast to provide cable television service. Basic Cable is included free to all Towers Residents including one HBO channel.  Digital Cable, Internet Access and other services are available through Comcast at a discounted rate. WebMail PhillyCarShare PhillyCarShare is now located right at Society Hill Towers!  Towers residents gain 24-hour access to 450 PhillyCarShare vehicles including hybrids, minivans, trucks and luxury cars With over 150 locations in and around Philadelphia, PhillyCarShare is cheaper, greener and more convenient than owning a car! PhillyCarShare has placed an Audi A4 here in the Tower's central visitor parking lot! Members can reserve a vehicle moments in advance via the Internet or automated phone system, hop in using their own key and go, An on-board computer tracks use and driving costs as low as $2.90 per hour and 9 cents per mile.  PhillyCarShare covers all the gas, insurance, parking, maintenance and parking for free. Car sharing provides the convenience of a car without the hassles and costs of ownership.  If you occasionally need a car for trips to the suburbs, home improvement store, personal appointments, or a night out on the town, car sharing is perfect.  Most members actually sell their own cars or choose not to purchase a new one.  Why own when you can borrow?
